Postdocs: The Bell Lab does not currently have funding for postdoctoral researchers but we are happy to discuss options for sponsoring postdocs such as the National Science Foundation Biology Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Biology and other fellowships.
Graduate students: The Bell Lab is affiliated with San Francisco State University’s Masters of Science in Biology program. This program does not have guaranteed funding so please contact Rayna for updated information on funded positions in the lab. Rayna also enjoys hosting visiting students at the Cal Academy! Graduate students can apply for support through the Michele L. Aldrich Collections Research Grant to visit the museum.
Undergraduate students: The California Academy of Sciences offers 10-week summer research internships for undergraduate students funded by the National Science Foundation. Visit the Summer Systematics Institute website for details on how to apply.
Scholars from developing countries: The Lakeside Fellows program provides financial support for scholars from developing countries to work with researchers at the California Academy of Sciences for up to 12 months. Scholars may be of any academic rank and all research expenses ranging from travel, lodging, per diem, and supplies may be funded. Contact Rayna directly for more details if you are interested in submitting an application.
